Yuppers It Was On The 6th They Love It...Hardware Upgrades Another Words The Site Will Be Down For Another Week...Oh And Ummmmm I Think The Gay.com Server Sits In Someones Basement...LOL...Don't They Know What A Fucking Data Center Is It Would Help Make It Redundant And They Wouldn't Have To Make All These Upgrades.

They just changed the online time to 3 pm. Somebody either botched something bigtime or underestimated the downtime:

We will be taking gay.com down on January 8, 2009 from 2:00 am to 3:00 pm Pacific Standard Time for scheduled maintenance which will include a significant hardware upgrade.

Isn't it a bit duplicitous for them to say this is a "planned" outage on January 8? The "planned" part ended at 9:30 a.m. PST, plain and simple. Clearly, they don't know what a datacenter is, and they're not too concerned with angry advertisers. Thank God I'm not a premium member.

But they have us right where they want us — fiending for them to put the (not-that-significantly-upgraded) site back up.

Well I think it's only noon PST right now ...
However, I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped some hard drives. Nothing surprises me with this company.

UGH THEY DRIVE ME NUTS...THEY HAVE DATA CENTERS FOR A REASON...THEY PROVIDE REDUNDANCY FOR A GOOD REASON SO THE MEMBERS DON'T GET UPSET ABOUT ALL THE "PLANNED AND UNPLANNED MAINTENANCE"...

PlanetOut has a new owner:

I bet they will really try to make third party chat clients impossible now. Of course, nobody could possibly run the service worse than it has been.

It's actually even bigger than that. PlanetOut as an independent company will be no more.
Check it out.

Crazy.
